Career Crisis #1 – The First Job

The first career crisis occurs the first time a you take a job that is aimed at a career.  Such a job might be one that is taken after graduation from college.

Motivations then include a desire to live away from home, have a car, and be independent.  Even back during the days when the “Doom Loop” was created, young people were simply happy to have a job with little or no knowledge of what the job entailed or where it might lead in the future.

Having a job was the solution to the first career crisis.

My best advice for “The First Job” is this:  It doesn’t really matter what you do or where you work – so long as the organization you work for has a reputation for doing things well – doing things “right.”
